My passion is to find light in the darkness, beauty in the ashes, capturing moments in time, places, and most importantly, people. By documenting their stories though my images, I seek to raise awareness and move my viewers emotions, awakening in  them a new perspective.

Light of Rescue

2019-2023

A documentary project that was born by walking on the streets of Salt Lake City as I discovered that this city is way more than what everyone expects. The streets are full of dark areas, where homeless and addicts live. I wanted to move the viewers into empathy towards the people we encounter everyday as we drive and walk around the city.

As I explored the city, I got the opportunity to encounter a place of healing for the struggles people have had living on the streets, the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake. As I related to the people and built-up relationships with them, I realized that the light exists in the midst of their once chaotic lives. Through my lens I tried to capture their light, and their struggles, as they live, serve, and go through their recovery program. The once homeless and addicts are people with a big heart.

I believe that as we open our eyes to see them as people, we will find out that there is greatness in them that can inspire us. They sure have inspired me and changed my life forever.

On the Abandoned

2022

Hidden on the streets of Salt Lake City we can find abandoned buildings, and places hard to reach filled with street art. Creations that many see as something negative, chaotic, and ugly. Something that express, anger, rebellion, or just a way of marking territory, and expressing control.

For me, graffiti is something completely different, it is appealing to my eye, and I see a form of art in it, as it merges with places in decay, places that are abandoned and falling apart, or places that no one else see unless you want to pay attention and looking for them.

Through my photography, my goal is for people to see this art expression with a different perspective. For them to find the beauty behind these graffities, not only focusing on the colorful creations, but also focusing in the shapes and forms a street artist can create with a spray can.

I want people to see beyond the evident, people to think about the artists, their motives, the freedom they find in creating in places that might be illegal, but places that give them a canvas to express their thoughts and feelings, with simply tagging their pseudonym, or through their more intricate creations.
